My Menu for Today

Elle posted her menu today for her maintenance. So I thought I would post mine. Now this is a typical menu of mine that I posted on the WLS support forum at LCF. Remember this is how I was eating prior to all the recent pouch complications.

several cups of coffee with heavy cream and coconut oil added and stevia(I don’t use splenda or any other type of artificial sweeteners)

bfst — 1 egg scrambled with cheese in butter and 1 slice bacon

snack–4 med shrimp and homemade cocktail sauce

lunch–parmesan crusted chicken thigh with skin, roasted veggies with butter, coconut oil and italian seasoning

snack—homemade low carb yogurt with flax seed added

dinner–another chicken thigh and some veggies(I’ll smother the rest in marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese for tomorrow)

snack—green olives, 1 avocado stuffed egg

bedtime—I always have my homemade yogurt with either flax seed or walnuts at bedtime…..

The menu I am following now is much different. This is what I had today.

I still drink several cups of coffee throughout the day as above just add unflavored protein powder to each cup.

Upon awakening, Atkins RTD protein shake

bfst–BREADLESS PUDDING

snack–cream cheese/sf jello thingy with extra protein powder added in

lunch–mushroom and crap cheesecake(savory)

snack—my homemade low carb yogurt with a little Davinci german chocolate flavored syrup and protein powder

dinner–shrimp salad, deviled egg

snack—some more of the breadless pudding

bedtime—some more low carb yogurt with protein powder and one of my many Davinci flavored syrups

You will probably notice there is no water listed. I can not stand the taste of water. But I do get in plenty of liquids with my coffee. I drink brewed tea sweetened with stevia and unflavored Koolaid sweetened with stevia throughout the day also. So i’m getting in plenty of fluids.

I’m on a bland “diet” now due to the ulcer in my pouch. I’m unable to eat too many protein choices so that is the reason for all the extra protein powder you see me using. Because of the malabsorption properties of my RNY WLS, I need to get in a minimum of 130gms of protein a day. That’s alot of protein powder.

After gaining 20pounds on the high carb prescribed bland “diet” the GI doc gave me, I’ve finally leveled off. Continuing to follow this very low carb, high fat plan, I look to see some of those pounds start dropping back off. But who cares if they don’t. I feel much better now that my body is getting the nutrition it was lacking.
