The original word “diet” meant your usual daily fare. Now it means deprivation, desperation, and weight rebounding. As I was told years ago by those who could lose weight and keep it off - first eat what you need. People’s needs vary. Try a metabolic typing test, and you may be shocked to find that, indeed, it’s WHAT you eat that matters more than HOW MUCH you eat.

Isn’t is sad that the majority of VLCD studies (and other diet studies as well) just focus on 8 weeks, 12 weeks or at the most 16 weeks and then present as a result that whatever diet they were studying was a success because people lost weight on it? What’s the point if you can’t keep the weight off.
